Changes to Professional Registration in Australia in 2010
We are proud to advise that as of 1st July 2010 the Nursing and
Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) has come into effect, which is
great news for our nurses and midwives when applying for Australian
registration as there is now only one nationalised board, as
opposed to individual boards in the different states and
territories.
What this means for you is a more streamlined registration
process, with an anticipated shorter processing time frame, and a
similar registration application process, with only one additional
document required.
The obvious benefit when gaining Australian registration is that
nurses and midwifes can now move easily throughout Australia
without having to transfer registration, ruling out the need to
apply for mutual recognition.
Please be aware that currently Nursing and Midwifery Board of
Western Australia (NMBWA) have not joined the NMBA as yet, as their
legislation is still being finalised. This is expected to be passed
in August 2010, and the NMBWA are then expected to join the NMBA
from 18th October 2010.

in Australia then please don't hesitate to contact us.
